Singapore at night

Singapore was on top of my bucket list and finally I was able to visit this beautiful city while travelling through Southeast Asia a few weeks ago!

After doing some sightseeing during the day, I decided to visit the famous 1-Altitude bar at around 6 p.m. It is located on the tallest building of Singapore, the One Raffles Place.

Unfortunately the actual rooftop bar was closed due to severe thunderstorms in the area when I arrived. Nevertheless I went up to the normal bar and enjoyed a drink, which was the “admission fee”.

At around 7 p.m. the sun set and the city lights went on. Some parts of the Formula 1 race track, the Marina Bay Street Circuit, are visible in the lower right-hand corner.

Not a bad view from the 61st floor

A few minutes after sunset we were finally allowed to go up to the 63rd floor – the rooftop bar! And the view from up there was just like… wow!

As the first light show started at 8 p.m., the alarm for thunderstorms went on again and we had to evacuate the rooftop immediately… Therefore this picture was taken in quite a hurry!

Marina Bay Sands, light and water show

The operators of the bar didn´t know if the rooftop will open again in time for the next light show, so I left the One Raffles Place towards Singapore´s famous waterside promenade next to the Merlion. From there you have a perfect view of the Marina Bay Sands as well as the skyline!

Skyline and the Merlion – Singapore´s national personification

I continued walking to the Esplanade, where it was possible to frame the MBS as well as the skyline into one picture. The next light show started at 9.30 p.m.

The end of the show was marked by a brightened Marina Bay Sands

It was an impressive evening and I instantly fell in love with this amazing city! The light show (daily at 8 & 9.30 p.m.) is definitely a must see and shows the real beauty of this metropolis.
