Air India, the flag carrier of India, recently held an event at Frankfurt International Airport to present their newest flagship, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, to travel agents and partner travel agencies.
The event started with a dinner at restaurant ‘Käfer´s’ at FRAPORT´s (the airport operator) invitation .
At around 7 p.m. we boarded the bus for an exclusive airport tour. We just made it on time for the arrival of Air India´s flight 121 from Delhi. The Dreamliner taxied past us and pulled into its gate.
Ground staff immediately started to clean the aircraft after every passenger had left the Dreamliner. As soon as it was cleaned up, we were allowed to enter it in order to get a presentation of the cabin.
While embarking we were greeted with a smile by every crew member and Air India employee. They were more than happy to show us around and explain every little detail of the cabin.
Air India´s Boeing 787-8 aircrafts seat 256 passengers in a two-class configuration and is used on international long-haul routes.
Thereafter we got a presentation of the Business Class. It is fitted with 18 flat bed seats with 180 degrees decline and a seat pitch of 74 inches.
Every passenger receives slippers and an exclusive amenity kit with personal care products.
Although other airlines offer more privacy with a 1-2-1 configuration in Business Class, Air India´s product looks very decent especially with the flat bed and seat pitch and width in general. Furthermore Air India serves traditional Indian cuisine.
All in all the event was well-organized and informative. The 787 Dreamliner is an amazing aircraft and I was very surprised how good Air India´s product is. As a member of the Star Alliance and a codeshare partner of Lufthansa, Air India is able to provide service to many European destinations. Rail & Fly (offer of Deutsche Bahn) is included in every fare. From Delhi, travelers can access the Indian subcontinent as well as destinations in Africa, Australia and South East Asia.
Thank you very much to Mr. Shrestha and Mrs. Sheikh as well as the whole Air India team in Frankfurt!
